Weeping Tile and/or Footing Drainage
When does the Bidder for Division 15 Mechanical have to include weeping tile and/or footing drains and their clean out risers?
Weeping tile and/or footing drains and their clean out risers are a standard Division 15 Exclusions under Appendix A of the Rules. The only circumstance under which they would be included in the Bid for Division 15 Mechanical is when the Bid Depository Administrator has authorized an amendment to the standard Exclusion by the process as allowed under Appendix A of the Rules.
General Contractor, own forces bid - Architectural Woodwork
Can a Trade Contractor doing architectural woodwork/millwork, bid a supply only price outside Bid Depository to a General Contractor who has bid own forces?
No they can not. The architectural woodwork/millwork must be manufactured by the General Contractors own forces as defined in the Rules.
Unionized General Contractor - Architectural Woodwork
A unionized General Contractor's collective agreement requires them to have the architectural woodwork installed by unionized workers, however, the agreement allows them purchase the manufactured product from any architectural woodwork manufacturer. How does this General Contractor get bids from open shop architectural woodwork manufacturers through the Bid Depository?
In this circumstance the General Contractor would be required to supply the architectural woodwork manufacturers with an installation price. The architectural woodwork Bidder would then add this installation price to their supply price and submit the total amount in their Bid to this General Contractor through Bid Depository.

General Contractor receives only one Bid (BCCA Bid Depository Rules)
If a General Contractor receives only one Bid through Bid Depository must they use that Bid?
General Contractors must use the single Bid unless the Project Documents allow them to do otherwise.
If a General Contractor receives only one Bid through Bid Depository and the Project Documents allow them to get prices independent of Bid Depository what are the single Bidders options?
The single Bidder may re-bid the work on the open market making any price adjusts including removing bonding costs, if the tender documents do not require trade contractor bids outside the Bid Depository system to be bonded.
If a General Contractor receives only one Bid through Bid Depository and the Project Documents allow them to get prices independent of Bid Depository can they name own forces?
Unless the Project Documents specifically allow them to do so General Contractors must select a trade contractor bidder. If the General Contractor has not been able to get bids independent of the Bid Depository then they must select the single Bid they received through Bid Depository.

General Contractor receives only one Bid (Federal Gov't Bid Depository Rules)
If a General Contractor receives only one Bid through Bid Depository (Federal Gov't Bid Depository Rules) must they use that Bid?
General Contractors must use the single Bid on all projects where the Federal Gov't Bid Depository Rules apply. However, these rules allow the government contracting authority to negotiate with the single bidder and, if negotiations are unsatisfactory they may require bids to be obtained outside the bid depository for the trade affected.
Scope of Work - work in more than one section
When the specification requires two or more sections to include the same work in both sections which Bidder includes the work?
All Bidders must include the work unless a Pre-Bid Interpretation from the Bid Depository or through addendum by the Tendering Authority the duplication is removed. General Contractors that are aware of the duplication would have to make a price adjustment to offset the duplication in the Bids received. The necessary contract amount adjustments would have to made by the successful General Contractor with the Bid Depository Trade Contractors after Tender closing.
Scope of Work - not usually part of trade section
The Project Documents require our Bid to include work that is not normally part of the work or our trade, what can we do about having this work removed from our section?
You should contact the BCCA Bid Depository Administrator to request a Pre-Bid Interpretation to have the work removed from your trade section.
Scope or Work - related trade section
Under the section we are going to bid through Bid Depository, the Project Documents list another specification section under 'Related Work' and the same work is listed again under 'Execution'. Are we required to include this 'related' work?
Yes, you are likely required to include the 'related' work, however, you should consult Rule Clarification 7.0 which has a detailed explanation.
